Walmart, an American multinational retail corporation. It is headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas. The company is founded by Mr Sam Walton, it operates a chain of grocery stores, discount departmental stores and hypermarkets. Presently Walmart has 11,443 stores and clubs operating in 27 countries and with 56 different names like in the United States and Canada the company operates under the name Walmart, Asda in the United Kingdom, Seiy group in Japan, in India as Flipkart wholesale etc. In terms of revenue, Walmart is the world’s largest company according to the Fortune Global 500 list of 2020. It has more than 2.2 million employees which make Walmart the largest private employer of the world.

Walmart is building a holistic ecosystem so as to provide the best shopping experience to the Indian consumers, suppliers, and producers that would include wholesale cash and carry business, a wide E-Commerce platform, logistics and supply chain and much more. For this on 9th December 2020, Walmart has collaborated with Vriddhi to help micro small and medium enterprises to expand their domestic supply as well as to contribute to global supply chains also. Walmart is cognizant of how much micro small and medium enterprises are vital to India and as if now this sector has sustained from covid-19.

The first institute opened in Haryana in October 2020 to serve micro small and medium enterprises of the Panipat, Sonipat and the Kundli region. This step of Walmart would create many new employment opportunities, export would also flourish and in future India would become more self-sufficient.

The Vriddhi institute aims to train and prepare around 50,000 small businesses of India for local as well as global supply chains. These institutes offer both online and offline assistance, so as you become part of the supply chain of Flipkart, Best Price, Walmart or any other global sourcing companies so that people from all over the world can buy your products and can get access to good quality of Indian products.

Under these institutes, you would get access to a two years program of tailored training and would also get personal advice from the experts. The program will cover all the aspects of business management to empower the entrepreneurs including women entrepreneurs. Quality education would be provided to all small business owners all over India via university partners.

The training consists of four levels and you would get free consultancy support also. You can seek consultancy at any level. As you build your capacity you would be advanced through the levels. The main aim of the Walmart Vriddhi e-institute is to open up a total of twenty-five institutes within five years of running.

On 25th February 2021, Walmart has launched its new branch of the Vriddhi e-institute in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. In this Institute the main focus is to empower the skills of artisans and entrepreneurs to expand the footwear manufacturing and carving sector of Agra. Many encouraging results have been observed.

Walmart has planned to triple it’s export from India to 10 billion dollars by 2027. Any micro small and medium enterprises that have a desire and potential to grow online or offline in India can register themselves and can contribute as their part for India’s post-pandemic economic recovery.
